Lead Mechanic

This position is primarily concerned with ensuring SQF (Safe Quality Food); food safety and Quality Assurance by performing and coordinating the maintenance and repair activities for an area. The plant manufacturing and packaging processes are highly automated and operate on a 24- hour basis. Performs and guide area maintenance and repair work, taking into account the elements of cost safety and effective utilization of skills. A continuing goal of the incumbent is to reduce maintenance cost and production downtime. This individual must have a general understanding of physical characteristics of all equipment in an area. In addition, he/she must have knowledge of all phases of maintenance work and be able to estimate with high accuracy the man-hours required for each job. Lead Mechanic will report to Mechanic Supervisor.

To perform this job successfully, an individuals must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Associates must demonstrate ability to write routine reports and correspondence to others when necessary; along with the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates.

Education and / or Experience:

Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or five to seven years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must posses the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; must demonstrate the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places; and extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 110F.
